GUDA drum Standart Dream Catcher is the first large-sized tongue instrument. It was created in 2013 after many experiments and prototypes.
This model is still very popular, because it earned its good reputation among many musicians around the world with its unique pure and rich sound. This big steel tongue drum can be a good alternative to an expensive Handpan. No needs to wait in the line for a year. You can start you musical improvisations and meditation in 3-4 weeks from the order date.
GUDA drum Standart Dream Catcher consists from two hemispheres made from 1,5 mm steel. The lower hemisphere has no hole and serves as the amplifier of the resonance. The oval-shaped tongues are located at the upper hemisphere. My innovation consists in the method of tuning. Manipulation and forging of the tongue causes very intresting effect – one tongue produces 2 notes instead of one: main tone+overtone, which is commonly tuned +1 octave.
Also, you can play these overtones separately – you need to hit underneath the tongue. You can hear the high note which we call «flageolet». It is similar to playing flageolets on guitar or other string instruments.
I engrave each GUDA drum with my own hands with a metal engraver. At the heart of all the patterns are ancient Ukrainian motifs, ornaments of Trypillia culture, as well as many of my author’s elements.
Design
A mounted and framed dreamcatcher is being used as a shared symbol of hope and healing. All engraved drawings I make with my own hands by a metal engraver. That is why every GUDA drum looks unique. The engraver removes the top brown oxide layer from the metal and leaves behind a silvery line.
